Epson 8350 Projector - Let's Take A Closer Look At It

The Epson 8350 is the successor of last year's bestselling 8100 projector and one of the latest additions to Epson's line of LCD projectors. This model is designed with entertainment, especially home entertainment, in mind. First of all, let's begin by differentiating the LCD (Liquid Color Display) and DLP (Digital Light Processing) projectors.

Due to the embedded technologies within, LCD projectors offer brighter pictures compared to what DLP deliver. In fact, it takes a DLP projector around 30% more lumens to show a similar brightness level delivered by an LCD projector. However, DLP projectors show us higher contrast compared to LCD projectors. Epson 8350 is an LCD projector with 2,000 lumens in it.

Epson introduced newer LCD panel technology which was originally only found in the higher class projectors, the well-known UB series. As the result, Epson 8350 delivers improved black level performance compared to its predecessors.

Frequent users of digital projectors will understand that a projector's lamp is not something cheap and replacing it will take additional service cost. This unit, with a 200-watt lamp, delivers excellent brightness which usually takes other projectors 250 to 300 watt lamps to do.

So, does Epson 8350 Projector deliver the expected performance out of it? It's up to you to decide.
